DC5 Keyboard Functionality In Financial
Audit
Data Entry Audible
Warning Features
In Wintakes, exceeding
limits, i.e., Entry, Price, Qty, or Comined, will result in a
"continuous beep", the Plus (+) key must be depressed to stop
the beep, and the entry must be re-keyed from the start of the
record.
In Financial Audit, exceeding limits, i.e.,
Entry (extension) will result in a "continuous beep", the
Escape (E) key must be depressed to stop the beep, and the
entry must be re-keyed from the start of the record.
In
NDI-W.I.N., exceeding limits, i.e., Price, Qty, will sound
three short beeps, and the Plus (+) key must be depressed to
accept the entry or Escape (E) to re-key the entry.
An extension
(price x quantity) over $100.00 results in a single beep. No
further action is necessary except to continue with data
entry. The beep is an audible warning that the extension
exceeded $100.00. This limit can be changed in Wintakes,
Financial Audit (DC5 stand-alone) and NDI-W.I.N. on both the
PC and the DC5.
High-Speed Keying Audible Warning
Features
The DC5 keyboard will accept up to 30
keystrokes (same key) per second (1,800 keystrokes per minute)
with no data loss. Keyed inputs can run ahead of the display,
but no data is lost and all data will show up on the display
even though it may lag key depressions at very high speed
keying rates.
Depressing two keys at the exact same
time will result in a "double beep", the two-character entries
will not be accepted and must be re-keyed. After the double
beep, keyed (character) entries will be accpeted as part of
the current record until the Enter key terminates the current
record. To assure the two keys are accepted, if so intended,
the operator should check the display to assure the record is
what is intended. To accommodate high speed keying, two keys
down simultaneously are accepted as legal inputs as long as
they are depressed separated by 8 milliseconds, i.e., 0.008
seconds. The reason for this is that the intended sequence of
the two characters is questionable if depressed
simultaneously.
To accommodate high speed keying, the DC5
incorporates a 3-key rollover feature. 3-key rollover allows 3
successive keys to be down simultaneously as long as the
depression of each key is separated by 8 milliseconds or more,
i.e., 0.008 seconds.
